Public Housing Guidelines
Moundsville Housing Authority has 248 units of public housing that the agency leases to low and moderate income families. Apartments range in size from efficiency to five bedrooms. Prior to leasing an apartment, applicants must pass a criminal background check, prior rental history check, and meet admissions requirements regarding family composition and income limits. To be eligible for an apartment, you must be at least 18 years of age and the household income can not exceed the following federally established limits:

Flat Rent
Residents have a choice of paying no more than 30% of their total household income for rent, or they may pay flat rent. The minimum rent is $50.00

How to Apply
To apply for housing with the Moundsville Housing Authority, prospective tenants may visit the office located on the ground floor of Golden Towers at 501 Tenth Street. Applications are accepted Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. On Wednesdays we accept applications from 8:00 am and 12:00 pm. The office is closed to the public on Wednesdays between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm; however we are available by telephone only. The offices are closed between 12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m. for lunch.

When applying for housing you will need copies of income, birth certificates and social security cards for all family members.

A $100 security deposit is required upon leasing an apartment.
Pets are permitted upon approval of the housing authority based on height and weight requirements outlined in the pet policy. A pet deposit is required.

Handicapped Accessible Housing
We have three two-bedroom and two three-bedroom apartments that are handicap accessible at our Dorsey Street/Burley Court complex.
At our Helfer Pavilion building we currently have two one-bedroom accessible apartments.
We also have eleven conversion apartments at the Golden Towers, which are two efficiency apartments combined to make one large apartment.
